How BrickBuddy makes money
BrickBuddy helps you find builders’ merchants near you and compare building-materials prices. We don’t charge you, we don’t sell materials ourselves, and we don’t run adverts. Our revenue comes from affiliate commission: when you click a link from BrickBuddy to a merchant’s website and go on to make a purchase, that merchant (via an affiliate network) may pay us a small percentage of the sale.
What that costs you
Nothing. You pay exactly the same price as if you’d gone to the merchant’s website directly. The commission comes out of the merchant’s marketing budget, not your pocket.
Does commission affect what we show you?
No. Results on BrickBuddy are ordered by distance and price — not by who pays us. A merchant cannot pay to appear higher in your results, and merchants we have no commercial relationship with are listed on exactly the same footing as those we do. If we ever feature or recommend a specific merchant for another reason, we’ll say so on the page.
Who our affiliate partners are
We work with affiliate networks, principally Awin, which runs the affiliate programmes for many UK builders’ merchants and DIY retailers. When a partnership is live, links from BrickBuddy to that merchant are affiliate links routed through the network so the sale can be attributed to us.
Where we are today
Approved and live: Travis Perkins, Blueperry, HSS Hire, Shedstore and Buy Sheds Direct. Further programmes are applied for and pending. Until a merchant’s programme is approved and switched on, links to that merchant are ordinary links and we earn nothing from them.
Not every retailer runs an affiliate programme we can join — Screwfix and B&Q are not available to us, for example. They still appear in our merchant finder because they are genuinely near you and useful to know about; we simply earn nothing when you visit them, and we do not price them.
How affiliate tracking works
When an affiliate link is live and you click it, you’re taken to the merchant via the network (for Awin, a brief redirect through awin1.com). An anonymous click reference — a random ID that doesn’t identify you personally — travels with the click so any resulting purchase can be matched back to BrickBuddy. The network and the merchant may set cookies on their own domains to make that attribution work. Details are in our Cookie & Storage Policy and Privacy Policy. We never see what you bought, your payment details, or your identity.
